自ら学ぶチャンスを得る
豊島岡には、自分のやりたいことをやるために、学校内に留まらず学校外にも活動の場を広げている生徒がたくさんいます。
彼女は、本校の「ニュージーランド3カ月留学プログラム」の体験後、アメリカ大使館主催のGirls Unlimited Program（GUP）に参加し、自身の経験を在校生に向けて報告してくれました。昨年度末には、海外留学経験のある生徒5名を集めて「参加型ワークショップ」を行い、在校生に刺激を与えてくれました。
そんな頑張る彼女にご褒美のようなチャンスが訪れました。以下、彼女自身の報告です。
9月から6ヶ月に渡ってアメリカ大使館によるエンパワメントプログラムであるGirls Unlimited Programに参加していました。今回は、アメリカ大使館からその報告のための米国務省東アジア太平洋局・広報文化外交部キャット・ター日本・韓国担当官とのミーティングにご招待いただき、参加しました。
I have joined Girls Unlimited Program (GUP) for six months since September 2017, which is an empowerment program produced by United States Embassy. On the 13th of March, I was invited to a meeting with Ms. Kat Tarr, Country Officer (Japan and Korea), Office of Public Diplomacy, Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, in order to report my experience in GUP and share opinions about GUP or other women’s rights problem with other participants, some alumni, a speaker and some girls from GUP group. Although it was quite hard for me to give my idea, because the meeting was proceeded in English, I am so glad to have got such opportunity to discuss the future and the solution of gender problem through empowerment program like GUP. Through this meeting I firmly decided to be a person who can change Japan and the influencer of someone.
